Famous Failures

Motivational Video – Famous Failures

Quite often it’s difficult to believe that some of the most famous and successful people we know are also famous for having failed before.

Do you know these people? I bet you do! See if you can identify them … then watch the video below to see if you’re right.

  1. After being cut from his High School basketball team, he went home, locked himself in his room and cried.
  2. He wasn’t able to speak until he was almost 4 years old and his teachers said he would “never amount to much”.
  3. She was demoted from her job as a news anchor because she “wasn’t fit for television”.
  4. He was fired from a newspaper for “lacking imagination” and “having no original ideas”.
  5. At age 11 he was cut from his team after being diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency, which made him smaller in stature than most kids his age.
  6. At 30 years old he was left devastated and depressed after being unceremoniously removed from the company he started.
  7. A high school dropout, whose personal struggles with drugs and poverty culminated in an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
  8. A teacher told him he was “too stupid to learn anything” and that he should go into a field where he “might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality”.
  9. Rejected by Decca recording studios, who said “we don’t like their sound … they have no future in show business”.
  10. His first book was rejected by 27 publishers.
  11. His fiancé died, he failed in business, had a nervous breakdown and was defeated in 8 elections.

So, as you can see, none of these famous people had instant success! They had to go through their own hardships and troubles to be successful. The main thing they have in common? Not one of them ever gave up! Instead, they continued on until they achieved their goals and reached their dreams. And so can you!

Following The Wrong Signs In Your Business?

On our way to NES8 (No Excuses Summit 8) in Las Vegas, Marinda and I nearly missed our connecting flight from Frankfurt to Chicago, following the wrong signs! We had just under 2 hours before our  connecting flight departed and felt quite confident we had plenty of time.

So we followed the signs pointing to the connecting flights and happily stood in a queue for about 35 minutes.  When we eventually got to the front, a very serious young man asked us why we wanted to go into Germany.  For a moment we thought he was joking and told him so.  It was obvious he didn’t really appreciate us thinking of him as a prankster!

We are actually on our way to Chicago we said and, after a dramatic eye roll and head shaking, he explained that we should have followed the blue signs. It was obvious he didn’t think much of our navigational abilities.

Maybe it was our panic-stricken faces that made him soften a bit,  because he assured us that if we didn’t dilly-dally and followed the correct signs this time, we should still make our flight.

Needless to say we did not hang around, we took off like bats out of hell! 14 minutes later, sweating and with a lot of heavy breathing, we triumphantly offered our passports and boarding passes just in time to be cleared for boarding.

This whole saga made me think of how, starting out in internet marketing, I was following the wrong signs, always ending up lost and in the wrong place time after time. Although I didn’t even realize it then, I needed someone to point out the rights signs to follow.

I always believed that if I just kept on going, eventually things will start to make sense.  I was looking for “the young man in Frankfurt” to point me in the right direction and show me which signs to follow. When I found him, he turned out to be a young man called Ferny Ceballos from Los Angeles, California. Ferny Ceballos

As soon as I began doing his 10-day boot camp, things have started falling into place.  I’ve not looked back – because for the first time – I have someone showing me the right signs to follow! I’ve managed to board my ‘connecting flight’ and, as I build my online businesses, I know I’ll never miss one!

Are you still struggling with your internet/affiliate/network marketing business?  Do you feel as if you’re following the wrong signs all the time?  Then do yourself a favor, sign up for Ferny’s free 10-day boot camp. If you follow his advice and implement what he teaches, your online marketing will take off and you’ll never look back!

Now THAT is how you sell damn it!

I was fortunate to meet some really great people in Las Vegas last week.  Sometimes you meet people who are so good at what they do, they make it look easy!  One such person is Vitaly Grinblat.  He is such a talented writer and I just love receiving emails from him.  So, I have to share this email I received from him today.  Not only because it’s well written, but because it contains awesome info!  If you do any kind of sales, you just have to read this:

Last week in Vegas, right before NES 8, I was walking through a recreational goods store with Andrew Draughon and Matt Crystal, and saw this sign above a bunch of yoga mats…

Now THAT’s what I’m talkin’ about.

A perfect example of how you sell a product. Even one that’s a commodity, such as a yoga mat.

You see, most products are not sold at all.

They just sit on the shelves with a price tag, collecting dust, hoping someone will come along and grab them.

But not this puppy.

Here you have a full blown ad with several copy elements.

Take a look at the picture again…

You’ve got a benefit driven headline.

Obviously, if anyone is looking at yoga mats, they’re probably thinking…

“Which one should I get?”

So this headline perfectly enters the conversation in their head.

Then you’ve got a short list of features and benefits telling you exactly what you should look at.

And of course like all good copy, there’s a call to action.

And there’s even a BONUS TIP!

Also, notice there’s ZERO hype about how great yoga mats are, and instead, it’s all wrapped in value driven sales copy.

This is a BRILLIANT example of how you can take a boring commodity like yoga mat… and sell it by infusing your message with value.

Which is exactly what you have to do in your ads and on your landing pages, IF you want to stand head and shoulders above the competition, and get your prospects HOOKED on doing business with you.

By the way…

Do I Know You? Too Much Too Soon!

Do you sometimes feel like saying “Do I Know You? Too Much Too Soon!” to new social media friends?  I know I do!

Imagine this.  You’re invited to a party by someone you don’t know (or at least not well).  You accept the invitation because you enjoy meeting new people and look forward to getting to know them.  Then, the moment you arrive at the party, you get bombarded with a sales pitch. Instead of enjoying yourself, you feel as if you’ve just been hit over the head!

This is what happens on social media too often.  You get a new friend request and accept.  The next thing you know, you are hit with a variety of offers.  No hello,  how are you?  Just a sales/recruitment pitch.

The sad thing is, if my new friend took the time to communicate with me and get to know me a bit better, I might have been open to look at their opportunity or their product.  But because of their eagerness to recruit me or make a sale, they actually had quite the opposite effect.

Sounds familiar? Are you making the same mistake, by pitching people immediately?

Internet Marketing

On the other hand, those new friends who initiate a chat and start building a relationship, make me much more interested in getting to know them, their opportunities and products.

I know we are all trying hard to build a business in order to live the laptop lifestyle/have more financial and time freedom or build a second income.  Unfortunately many marketers never have much (or any) success because of over-zealous marketing tactics.

Fortunately we can always change our approach and get some positive results. Instead of pitching, rather just have a genuine conversation.

So why don’t you try this? Next time you connect with someone, simply focus on building a relationship without trying to get a sale. Don’t try to recruit. Bring value and offer solutions. The sales will come …
